Description: DESCRIPTION: Signed First Edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, by J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was the 1st of the Harry Potter books published in 1997 by Bloomsbury Publishing. This particular copy is a 1st edition, 30th impression (as can be seen on the copyright page). It still has its original Dust Jacket with price £10.99 on front flap and 223 pages. J.K. Rowling’s Autograph can be seen in the upper corner of the primary title page. As expected in line with the publishing date, the author’s autograph shows the more pronounced letters “J” and “K” at the start, which became much less prominent in later years. This may not be a very early print run but it is still a 1st Edition and considering the very good condition of the book combined with J.K. Rowling's Autograph makes it an absolute gem for fans of Harry Potter or serious amateur book collectors. CONDITION:Publisher's original pictorial covers with very light bumping to head of spine and one corner.Binding nice and square.Edges clean and only slightly tanned.Pages are immaculate. The book has no previous ownership markings.Presenting excellently in a very good, unclipped dust wrapper with bright panels. Some very light creasing to extremities, as pictured, however with no loss and no tears. The wrapper has now been placed in a removable, protective sleeve of archival quality. A near-fine book in like dust wrapper. REFUND POLICY: Since this is not a very high value book (i.e., in excess of £500), I have not gone through the process of obtaining a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA), because it doesn’t make financial sense to me to spend 20%-50% of the original purchase price for an “in-person” authentication of the signature by a highly credible book dealer or one of the two eBay approved providers of CoAs. As such, in line with eBay’s guaranteed refund policy, any buyers will be issued a full refund if they have doubt about the authenticity of the autograph and request a refund within 14 days of receiving the book. I do ask any buyers requesting a refund to go about it in a respectful and professional manner please.I have built my collection of more than 1,000 books, over a period of 20 years with about 40% of them having Certificates of Authenticity (CoAs).All my books have been acquired from top end rare book dealers, online sites (like eBay etc), physical bookstores, various fire sale auctions, standard auctions, second hand bookstores, charity shops and early morning boot sales (at least during the days when hidden treasurers could be found at such places).I believe that I have become pretty good at both identifying true 1st editions and assessing whether autographs are real or not, BUT I am under no illusion that my collection may unknowingly contain a few forgeries that I have missed (especially during my early years of collecting). You will find that many of my lower value books that has not been professionally authenticated will be priced comparatively low because:In many cases I likely paid much less to acquire the books in the first place and I already own a fine condition copy with a CoA.Where books do not have a CoA, it increases the uncertainty and potential risks to buyers, and because I would personally never pay more than £500 for a book without a credible CoA (which I advise others to do the same), I not expecting anyone else to do so either.
