Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE David Godlis History is Made at Night SIGNED David Godlis New York: Matte editions. 2016. First edition. Hardcover. No dust jacket as issued. SIGNED by David Godlis on the first page. Inscribed. 170 pages. Introduction by Jim Jarmusch. Very good plus. David Godlis is a street photographer. He has been walking for 50 years in the streets of New York with his camera. Above all, he experienced the golden age of the punk-rock scene. History is Made at Night contains 119 black and white photographs. All were taken between 1976 and 1979 around the CBGB in the Bowery. They were taken without Flash and with only the light of the streetlights. He shot with his handheld Leica and TRI-X film. Here we find the heroes of those punk nights: Patti Smith, Richard Hell, the members of the Ramones, Talking Heads, Television, the young Jim Jarmusch, and the crowd of strangers. It is a tribute to this emblematic and legendary place that was the CBGB club. We can see the interior of the room, the concerts, the queues in front of the front door, as well as the atmosphere of those nights. This is a unique and certainly the most beautiful book covering this period. Very good plus. Minimal wear to the boards. Minor soiling. Internally, binding tight. Hinges sound. Beautiful clean images. Now mylar protected. Scarce. SIGNED David Godlis.
