He is also quoted with saying that “I should be extremely glad to give a course at the school for Social Research.” He asks if there is anything he could do, and signs the letter at the bottom with “yours sincerely, Paul Richard”. Envelope with letter has New York cancel dated March 10, 1931. Photo of Paul Richard pasted onto back of front cover. Photo of Rabindranath Tagore pasted over copyright page next to a quote of his on the next page. Inscribed & Signed in French on the blank front end page by Paul Richard. 276 pages plus table of contents pages and title pages. Measures 8 1/4” x 5 3/4”. Paul Richard was born in France in 1874, where he served in the military at various points of his life. He was a writer of philosophy and religion as well as a lecturer in France, Japan, and the United States. The former French Reformed Church pastor later married The Mother -- Sri Aurobindo's primary disciple -- and attempted to follow him. Essentially a series of aphorisms viewing Christ and Christianity in the light of Eastern spirituality. Much of interest here to students of Aurobindo, the Mother, or the synthesis of Eastern and Western religion. CONDITION: Excellent vintage, preowned condition. Hardcover has chips and tears on it as well as on the binding. Discoloration from age. Pages are clean and intact with binding and slight discoloration from age. Small tears on copyright page. Letter folds out to three panels with a tear at the top fold mark. Envelope is torn where it was opened. Slight creases and discoloration on envelope. Bookmark is clean with slight discoloration.
