It is signed and inscribed by the author in the front of the book. Hippolyte Jean Giraudoux (French 29 October 1882 - 31 January 1944) was a French novelist, essayist, diplomat and playwright. He is considered among the most important French dramatists of the period between World War 1 and World War II. His work is noted for its stylistic elegance and poetic fantasy. Overall, the book is in Good Condition. The boards are bound in partial vellum binding (was originaly a soft cover). They have wear, scratching, chipping, staining and scuffing. The corners are scuffed and bumped. Some discoloration and fading of the boards and some other stains, as well. The edges are scuffed and the paper on the boards is "wrinkled" and peeling. The book does not completely close. Internally, it is firmly bound. There is wear and browning to the pages. The pages themselves have a few nicks and creases in the corners.
