DESCRIPTION: Shropshire Imperial Yeomanry Troopers helmet. A good 1871 pattern example with silvered skull this decorated with brass laurel leaves; to the front a helmet plate of brass backing plate surmounted by a Post 1902 Kings Crown, mounted with a silvered cut star with brass title strap Shropshire Imperial Yeomanry and three animal heads to the centre. Brass spike supports a white over red regimental pattern horsehair plume with rose boss. To each side are rose head bosses which support a brass leather-backed chin chain. Original leather lining to the interior. Minor service wear, stitching faults to chin chain, otherwise VGC. Notes This pattern of helmet was introduced to the regiment in 1872. Imperial Yeomanry was added to the regimental title in 1901! NOT SURE OF EXACT AGE OF HELMET! SOME WEAR BECAUSE OF AGE! NEEDS POLISH TO BRING OUT TRUE COLORS AND CONDITION! PLEASE SEE PHOTOS!
