SGC AUTHENTIC - 1954 N.Y. Journal American - Larry Jansen New York Giants

Description: An SGC AUTHENTIC – 1954 New York Journal American card of Larry Jansen of the New York Giants. The 1954 N.Y. Journal American set was released as a promotional set by New York Journal American Publishers to increase sales. The daily $1,000.00 cash prizes for cards featuring players and numbers that were announced in the newspaper each day. The set only includes players from the New York Yankees, New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers and features a team schedule on card backs that corresponds to the player on the front. This example has no creasing, nice focus, bold printing, good centering and clean borders. The upper corners are consistent with those found on most EX/EX+ examples, while the lower corners are more consistent with EXMT examples. The card does not appear to have been trimmed. There are a few very small and extremely light vertical indentations to the left of the contest number on the bottom of the card that could have been pencil marks that were later erased (most likely the reason for the "AUTHENTIC" designation from SGC). They could just be indentations, but we found nothing else on the card that looked like it had been altered. The back is clean with bold printing. Even with the minor indentations, this is still a nice looking card that would not look out of place in an SGC 4.5 or SGC 5 holder.
