Description: This is a set of six individual salt dishes with accompanying spoons. These are fabulous! The dishes are hammered and in the shape of maple leaves. The leaf veins are visible in the inside of the dishes. The interiors are lightly vermeilled. The measure approximately 1 1/2" across and are about 3/4" high. Each has four ball feet. The spoons are approximately 2 3/8" long They are engraved with floral designs. The dishes, Marked Tiffany & Co, 255 M 2929, STERLING, were probably made in the 1870 - 74 time range according to Carpenter. The spoons are marked M Tiffany & Co STERLING 301. According to Carpenter, the design originates from around 1867. The set weighs 3.77 ozt. This is an exceptional set, well above the ordinary. Another dealer on eBay has two of these available for considerably more; however, you might be able to complete a set of eight.
