Description: This listing is for a broken pair of Honeywell thermostats that could be put together to make one good working thermostat with parts to spare. They are both RTH9580W01 models and end in 1005 as the product number although the one on the left has 4 extra pins that go into the backplate and the backplate matches it. I tested the one on the left and provided photos of when I mounted it on a proven working backplate and attached photos to show it powers on and works, connects to Wi-Fi, it just has a faulty temperature sensor. The other one on the other hand, when I plug it in, I hear it open up the zone valve as if the temperature portion is reading but nothing comes up on the screen and other than that it starts to make a burning smell which I believes corresponds to the small burn mark in the bottom corner of the model sticker I photographed. I'm guessing something has short circuited... I believe you could disassemble both of these and put them together to make one good thermostat with a backplate. Other than that, the one that turns on has a small crack running through the faceplate as shown but the one on the dead thermostat is good so they could be swapped. I also tried adding them to my Honeywell account and both of them are still registered to someone else. If you are to make one good one, all you would have to do is call Honeywell and have them deregister it, it only takes 5 minutes. That being said, these thermostats are being sold as a pair, as is, with no returns. I'm tempted to take them apart, but I never have before and would rather pass them along to someone who has done it before or is at least more up to the challenge.
