Description: This set of 10 soft leather-bound volumes by William Makepeace Thackeray is in very good condition. Gilding remains on the spines. All but one volume have black inner covers, Burlesque has a bluer inner cover with gilded leaves around the outside edges. The leather is intact (not crumbling), and other than fading along spines, and on some front covers (see photos, I showed everything), they are in great condition. The original book covers look to be a dark blue-green (though everyone sees colors differently), and the spines have gilded titles and leaves. The pages are very thin (tissue-thin), but in excellent condition, I flipped through all volumes and saw no damage. The Essays volume covers' corners are a bit bent at the bottom right, and one volume (Burlesques, I think) had darkening along the right page edges (viewed when book closed), but I show in a photo, this didn't "enter" the pages themselves. Might come off with wiping. No other damage to the books was noted.
