Description: estate, from private collection no international shipping Listed artist Saul Rabino (1892-1969) pencil signed Saul Jacob Rabino was born in Odessa, Russia on July 8, 1892. The prominent schools he attended were Russian Imperial Art School and Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. He immigrated to the United States in 1922 and he made a move to Los Angeles ten years later. He worked for the Los Angeles Federal Art Project, and as a prolific worker he produced about forty images on subjects like the WPA workers, chess players, musicians, and the unemployed. He was commissioned to work on an oil painting called, Moses—Hebrew Prophets for the Hebrew Sheltering Home auditorium in 1937. Rabino exhibited at New York World’s Fair in 1939, Beverly-Fairfax Center in 1944, Eastside Community Center (Los Angeles) in 1954, and his works remain at the Los Angeles Public Library, Hebrew Sheltering Home (Los Angeles), and the Library of Congress.
