Description: VINTAGE SANDWICH, MA FIRST CHURCH BELL PAIRPOINT ART GLASS CUP PLATE Oldest Bell in America Vintage Window Decoration Cape Cod Christopher Wren Church The vintage Pairpoint Glass Cup Plate is a beautiful and unique collectible featuring the oldest church bell in America. The 1675 church bell, which was made in Europe and gifted to the town by the widow of Captain Peter Adolph, is showcased on the 2nd Pairpoint Glass cup plate commissioned by the First Church of Christ of Sandwich, Massachusetts. Made in the USA, this cup plate is Pairpoint #214 and is a great addition to your Cap Cod memorabilia collection. Handcrafted on Cape Cod, each cup plate measures 3.5'. Employing hammer and chisel, the craftsman meticulously created a steel mold for every design. With an antique press, molten glass was pressed into the engraved mold, resulting in a series of cup plates that possess similarity, yet retain their unique characteristics. The irregularities serve as a testament to the handmade nature of each piece, adding to their inherent charm.
