SALAMANDRA ART GLASS, DECORATED BARBER, GENIE BOTTLE SHAPED BUD VASE, QUITE TALL

Description: For auction is a beautiful art glass vase made by Salamandra Art Glass of Portsmouth, NH. The vase is tall as it stands 11 1/4" tall and is 4 1/4" in diameter at its bulbous bottom. This vase has a barber or Genie bottle shape. It is bulbous at the bottom and has a long cylindrical neck with a small flaring off round platform or shelf at the top. The vase is further decorated with a pattern of feather along the bottom. The base glass is similar to Agate. The majority of the feathering is in the half of the vase with virtually no feathering from the neck up. The feathering is tastefully done as you can see beautiful blues, greens and mustard yellow in the glass. Most of this mustard yellow acts as a background for the feathering allowing the feathers to be bold. The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips, or dings. The piece is signed along the bottom outside edge at the bottom of the vase. The engraved signature reads "Salmandra Glass 12 77 ". The means this piece was made in December of 1977. Those of you who collect Salamandra Art glass as well as contemporary glass and want a nice early example, look no further. This is your chance to own one of Salamandra's tallest decorated vases that was made in the very beginning years. It is well executed and I'm quite sure the buyer will be well pleased with their purchase. This is one of Salmandra's Glass earlier works. It was made only 2 years after they opened their doors. Their studio started blowing glass in 1975. Salmandra Art Glass was widely known for their Glass Rondels. The 2 partners that formed this Studio were George Cirocco and David Bellantone. George was actually apprenticed by David Bellantone and Todd Phillips back in 1975. I met David when they first got started in the mid 1970's. I used to buy Rondels from him and some vases. They sold President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. He was President from (1977-1981). They sold some of their Rondels that hung in the White House back in late 1970's. They didn't blow a lot of vases so they are rather hard to find. Their studio closed in 1991. In 1996 George Cirocco re-opened the studio in Dover, NH. He blew glass for another 13 years. They are now out of business as he closed that studio on April 26th, 2009. PLEASE READ BELOW I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July 2020. They are also now charging all sellers a commission of 12.35% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 12.35%. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges. If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
