Description: Soviet Era Reprint of TASS Window 1240 Poster, Celebrating Red Flag over Berlin This is an ORIGINAL Soviet poster printed circa 1970s-1980s, not a more recent replica! This is a reprint of one of the last among 1484 issues of political agitation posters published between 1941 and 1945 to boost the morale of the Soviet Army as well as the civilian population in their war effort. This particular poster glorifies the event signifying the end of the war – the red Soviet flag over the Reichstag.As all “TASS Windows”, the original number 1240 was made using stencils in several colors. Artwork belongs to P. Sokolov-Skalya, one of the main artists toiling almost round the clock from June 27, 1941 when TASS Window Number 1 was published until after the war ended (the HQ of the TASS Windows office in Moscow closed in 1946). The verbiage below the artwork reads “Glory to the Soviet Armed Forces Who Raised the Banner of Victory over Berlin!” and is one of the official congratulatory phrases issued and approved by the Central Committee of the All-Union Party (of Bolsheviks) to be shouted from the tribunes during the festivities on May 1st, 1945, the Day of International Solidarity of Workers of the World, one of the main political holidays in the USSR. Size: (H)17.5” x (W)12”, printed on matte poster paper. The poster is in VERY GOOD condition. Very minor staining is present at the top left corner as well as barely noticeable scuffing near the edges. The paper shows slight age toning.
