The medallion measures approx.35 mm in height (including the eyelet), 35 mm wide. The reverse of the medallion shows inscription "Veteran of the 56th Army,1941-1943". The suspension shows ribbons for Medals for Defense of Caucus and Victory over Germany. There is a raised Soviet-era maker mark on the reverse of the suspension. The badge is in GREAT condition, with nicely preserved paint and finish. The pin attachment is fully functional. Pins of this kind were awarded to the veterans of the unit often in commemoration of an anniversary of the unit or anniversary of victory over Germany. They were often handed out to surviving servicemen at veterans’ conventions, patriotic rallies or other special events. Because not many veterans were still alive at the time, veteran badges of a specific unit are quite often scarce.Veteran badges were NEVER available for sale.
