Description: Waltham 18s 15 Jewel Pocket watch. The movement serial number is 3063335 - model 1883, grade Crescent St. manufactured in 1887. The movement is still running and keeping good time 137 years after manufacture! The watch case is a heavy 25 year Gold Filled case made by the Crescent Watch Case Company. This is a very nice 3 hinge style case with hinged front bezel, hinged dust cover and hinged rear lid. All open/close fine. There is a bump on the inner dust cover, and the engraving on the back is worn from being carried, with just a tiny sliver of brass showing on the very edges of the front bezel and rear lid. The pendant has some brass showing as well. The crystal is a new glass crystal from Whites' Crystals. The watch has a very nice Gold Filled bow, and nice Gold Filled crown. The porcelain-enamel dial has thin black Roman numerals with black 5-minute markers. This dial is in very nice condition with only a couple of edge chips showing at 9:00. This dial also has the 13-25 sub-hour markings associated with Canadian style dials. The thin spade style steel hands are blue, the second hand is also blued. The movement is 15 jewels, the balance wheel has good motion, and the movement has been cleaned and is in running order. This movement received a new alloy mainspring as part of the service. All in all, this is a special case with special Crescent St. high grade movement. The movement has polished steel regulator, blued screws and gold jewel settings. It is one of Waltham's more restrained examples of the Crescent St. model, but is a beautiful watch nonetheless. This watch is a lever set movement. To set the time, open the front bezel, use your fingernail to gently pull out the setting lever (at 5:00) and then use the crown to set the time. Push the setting lever back in, close the front bezel, and then use the crown to wind the watch. Check the picture showing the lever pulled out. The watch has been recently serviced, is running and keeps time to within a few minutes each day. These old pocket watches make fun gifts for friends and family. USA Sales Only Please.
