Description: Royal Rudolstadt Beyer Bock 4 Bread Butter Plates 1905-1929 Nuts Gold Spider Web Exquisite Decorative Set of 4 BREAD & BUTTER PLATES, from Royal Rudolstadt of Beyer & Bock Rudolstadt, Thuringia, Germany, Hand Painted BEAUTIFUL CHESTNUTS Nestled in their GREEN LEAVES, Bold GOLD on the SCALLOPED BEADED Rims w/2 GOLD SPIDER WEBS, circa 1905-1929 DESCRIPTION: This features hand painted chestnuts and leaves with grayish blue ghost leaves to give depth to the painting. The scalloped, beaded rims are painted in gold & the 2 gold spider webs on each plate is an interesting touch. The background washes vary from yellow to green to orange. CONDITION: The condition of this set is excellent. One of the plates has a faint star hairline on the back. We can find no defects or other damage. The gold on the rims appear to have slight age appropriate minor wear on the tops of the beads. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or other hairlines. Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is. This will make a beautiful display set or can be used daily. DIMENSIONS: The beautiful, decorative plates have a diameter of 6" with a height of 3/4". HISTORY/MARKS: Beyer & Bock existed from 1853-1931 and was started as a porcelain decorating shop. The company began porcelain production in 1890. Volkstedt has been a part of the town of Rudolstadt, Thuringia, Germany since 1923. The Royal Rudolstadt registration was obtained by Beyer & Bock and appears to have been used until the company was sold in 1929 to Edelstein & Zehe A.G. and production ceased. When reorganized and production resumed, the Beyer & Bock mark was used with the company continuing in some form to as late as 1990. The mark on this is identified by Robert Rontgen's Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present as mark #722 which was used 1905-1929.
