Description: This is an extremely rare very early edition (1823-24) of Rossini's SEMIRAMIDE. It once belonged to Leo Genin, a noted opera enthusiast in the early nineteenth century. He is said to have purchased the first ticket to Jenny Lind's concert tour in the US during the 1850s. Plate number is 1100. Names of various important singers in their roles are memorialized in this score. Henriette Meric-Lalande and Maria Malibran are in different inks and different calligraphy from the rest of the cast (see photo), which are written by the same hand. In these cases it is not just a cast listing. Very clean considering this score was printed in the early 1820s. A treasure indeed!!!
