It was designed in the 1980s by the British design firm Queensberry Hunt using the latest computer aided production to create subtle concentric rings in the porcelain (very advanced at the time). It was a best seller out the gate and helped the parent company, Rosenthal, come back from the brink of bankruptcy which was a common predicament for ceramic manufacturers at the time. Initially called "Trend" the product line was updated in 2000 and renamed Loft. It remains a best seller for its elegant simplicity. I also have salad plates, cereal and soup bowls in this pattern.
