Description: Rosemount Analytical/Dohrmann DC-190 combustion TOC analyzer. Organic containing samples are manually injected into the combustion tube and catalytically oxidized to carbon dioxide and water. The carbon dioxide containing steam is passed through a gas/liquid separator to remove most of the water and then through a Peltier cooled dehumidifier to remove remaining humidity. The dried carbon dioxide then passes through a halogen scrubber and into the non-dispersive infrared detector (NDIR) for total carbon peak detection. Inorganic samples are manually injected into the acidic IC reactor. The formed carbon dioxide is swept from the IC reactor and similarly dried and detected. Calibration via suitable TC and IC standards affords TC and IC results and TOC via the difference between the TC and IC; aka, TOC = TC - IC.
