Description: Roman Imperial, Galba sestertius, 68-69 A.D., Sear (2000) 2125 var., R.I.C 263, 24.7 gms, 35-36 mm. The obverse shows the legend "SER. GALBA CAES. AVG. TR. P." , with the laureate head of Galba to the right. The reverse shows the legend " S. P. Q. R. OB. CIV. SER.", all in the three lines in an oak wreath. The obverse shows a mottled green, and brown patina with some texture, over a great, high detail, high relief portrait of an emperor who was not in that position for very long. Hair, wreath, ear, and facial features all showing a lot of detail. The reverse is mostly covered with medium green patina, with a break in patina at the top center, where a small spot of brown can be seen, and a speck or two of hard, dark green, accretion/patina. Great portrait on this first bronze size coin of Galba. This is a genuine, original coin, not a copy, replica, or reproduction. EX.
