Joseph Cable, a marine sent to the island with top-secret plans to spy on the nearby Japanese fleet. After Joe becomes friends with a local merchant, Bloody Mary (Lori Tan Chinn), she brings him to the enchanted island of Bali Ha'i, where she introduces him to her daughter--an exotic beauty he soon becomes enamored with. The lovely tropical location is the perfect backdrop to showcase Rodgers & Hammerstein's mesmerizing score, which includes the classic songs "Some Enchanted Evening," "Bali Ha'i," "There Is Nothin' Like a Dame," "Younger Than Springtime," "A Cock-eyed Optimist," and "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair."
