The hood is embossed "Rock Island System", a early short-lived corporate identity for what we more commonly refer to as the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway or Rock Island Lines. It has a matching, clear, cast, extended base globe with strong rectangular frame Rock Island System emblem. The bail handle has been wire wrapped by an employee at some point to make it easier to grip. This rare example of an early Rock Island lantern is in excellent, unrestored condition.
