This early map of South Carolina was published by F. Lucas Jr. in Baltimore, for Mills' Atlas & Statistics. The table was previously torn, with archival repairs to hinges and backed with linen. Very good. Robert Mills (1781-1855) was an architect from South Carolina and designer of the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. Mills was approached by the General Assembly of South Carolina in 1823 to produce an atlas of the state, specifically the states twenty-eight political districts. He completed the Atlas of the State of South Carolina in 1825 (Howes M625), and it's companion volume, Statistics of South Carolina, in 1826.
