Description: Various • Rosemary Davis – BBC Sound Effects No. 5 (Road Transport) (BBC Fielding Recording LP) (1971) Very good British-only release. Compiled and edited by Rosemary Davis. Records 1 and 2 in this series of LPs offer a wide variety of those sound effects most frequently in demand. In subsequent editions the intention has been to develop a particular theme such as Seafaring (No. 3), Victorian Atmosphere (No. 4) and in this record, Road Transport. Featuring a host of noises and sounds associated with Road Transport. Condition (refer also to notes at bottom): VINYL: VG. Looks superbly clean on visual inspection. Side 1 has six or so short scuff ticks across surface but no other sign of any marks, scuffs or hairlines. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is very good throughout. Mild surface noise and static at run-ins and in between cues but less audible during louder tracks. Plays with no skipping, jumping or sticking. OUTER SLEEVE/COVER: VG+. Colours are clear and unfaded. Superb laminated front. A few creases in from spine and one or two in from other edges but corners, edges and spine are in great shape. Aperture has light wear and mix mainly towards the top but nothing major. Back of sleeve has some dark ring marks around disc and label rings but text readable and clear. INNER SLEEVE: VG. Original. Poly-lined white paper with square corners and central hole. Blue printed text at bottom of one side. Crimping and folding but clean and intact. Tracklist A1a. Door Opens & Closes. 0:04 A1b. ITEM CONDITION - items are graded according to Record Collector definitions - see below: MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced. POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
