Description: For sale is a fine Victorian sterling and mixed metals Japanesque cane head by R.F. Simmons & Co.. The piece is 1 1/4 inches in diameter by about 1 7/8 inches tall and weighs 54 grams. It has a hammered top section over a pattern of stylized bushes, some with birds. One one side is a Japanese man in the act of falling down. He has an applied gold sleeve and there are three bits of applied gold at the hem of his robe. The piece is monogrammed “HHG” in fancy Victorian entwined letters on the top. The piece is marked “R.F.S. & Co” and “STERLING” on the rim. Condition on the head is fair. There are a few large dents, as shown, and because the metal is so thick they will be difficult to remove. There is also normal wear from use. Regardless, a fine piece of Victorian Japanesque metalwork!
