For a mitt from the early 40's, it's not in bad shape...NOW. It was, but I saw an opportunity to rebuild an ancient glove with my son, I've done a few with him. Kind of trying to show 'em that when dinosaurs roamed the earth, so were there great ball players too. He's about to play High School ball now and all this is to fund his dream. The only thing we replaced was the lacing, so not much. However, to relace it, I found pics of an exact match to copy the pattern. The way you see it done is the way the factory intended. Prior to that though, he gently cleaned it with proper leather cleaner and I used Rawling's Glove conditioner. It looks way better and we actually used it when we first repaired it. You gain a lot of appreciation for those that played with such simple gear, but also that THIS was top shelf at the time. Thanks for looking all and MAHALO!!
