REPRODUCTION Mid-Century NELSON OMNI + CSS Shelf System WALL BRACKET Essential!

Description: PLEASE INDICATE whether you are ordering brackets for the 12" or 9" Shelf Systems One (1) reproduction aluminum wall bracket for the George Nelson-designed mid-century modern OMNI and CSS storage systems (originally produced by Structural Products and Herman Miller, respectively); given that the original wall brackets (part #P-259; see original Omni catalog excerpt here) are very difficult to find in any condition for either system (especially for the Omni), I've personally produced these support brackets for two wall systems of my own, and they have provided rock-solid stability to the units, especially when compared to the potential failings of the original (but thoroughly unreliable) vertical spring tension-mount method for the Omni. The other problem with the vertical tension-mount method is that the pole lengths almost never match the ceiling heights, making these systems very difficult to securely install without tying them to the walls. These brackets are mounted to the wall using a common 1/4-20 thread anchor bolt (whether it is mounted directly into a vertical stud or a plastic anchor) or butterfly bolt (for mounting through unsupported drywall/plaster); these mounting bolts ARE NOT included with this sale, are readily available at any hardware or home improvement store, and have only been pictured solely for reference purposes. A+++ The sale includes: one (1) aluminum wall bracket, one 1/4" fender washer (to cushion the post when mounted to the wall, as well as to help shim the mounts against walls that might not be perfectly plumb (buyer would be responsible for the additional washers required for shimming)) and two 8-32 stainless steel cap screws with tab nuts (these tab nuts are modified iron weld nuts that have been ground to size to fit the channel of the extruded aluminum pole; the nuts aren't pretty, but are strong and concealed when installed, so their appearance shouldn't be an issue). Please note that the 8-32 cap screws which will be included with the bracket are different than the black cap screws that appear in some of the photographs for this listing; since taking these pictures I have upgraded the hardware to use the round-head stainless steel cap screws, which in my opinion are more discreet and aesthetically appealing than the cylindrical black cap screws. NOTE #1: Two mounts are typically required for each vertical pole support (one at each end), especially if you have installed any cabinets; therefore, for a single-bay system you would need 4 wall mounts, for a two-bay system you would need 6 wall mounts, etc. NOTE #2: Please note that the posts will be sent with a standard silver aluminum finish surface buffing, but can still be instantly mounted as-they-are when they arrive (this was certainly good enough for my system). However, if the buyer is not satisfied with the delivered finish (there might be some very minor evidence of scuffing, scratching and light dings that occurs during the machining and production process), the buyer will be responsible for finishing them to their desired tastes -- whether this involves painting them, anodizing them, powdercoating them, or polishing them even more aggressively to a mirror-like finish with 0000-grade steel wool, etc. Each bracket measures approx. 3" x 0.75" x 12.125" or 3" x 0.75" x 9.625" (to accommodate either 12" or 9" shelf systems) NOTE #3: Wall mount post lengths are not limited to the standard lengths and can be cut to any length (as per your installation) for an added amount; please contact me to confirm the possibility of accommodating this request before making the purchase.
