Description: This auction is for the Premium KK4HXJ rE-Cap kit for Realistic DX-150 Radio/Communications Receivers I offer these kits to simplify the process of obtaining the necessary components to do a DIY capacitor replacement Premium Kits include High Quality Panasonic FC Series Capacitors (2.2-100uF values are 50v 220-470uF values are 25v) (all values except 1uF which are Nichicon Brand PS Series) The 3 Axial Capacitors in this kit are a premium capacitor by SC - Manufactures in Taiwan - all are 100Volt Caps The 2200uF Capacitor is a 50v Nichicon or 63V Nippon Chemicon, which has been modified by the addition of several layers of Heat Shrink material to enlarge the diameter so that it fits the stock capacitor clamp These are simply the Highest Quality Capacitors available anywhere If you are looking at this auction, you likely realize that Electrolytic capacitors have a finite life, most Consumer Grade electrolytics including modern units have engineered lives of 1000-5000 hours at which point they begin to fail, which includes changing values, increased electrical leakage, increased ESR or outright failure such as opening up or shorts, many times these failures are cummulative and result in the gradual loss of performance. This upgrade will improve the function and reliability of these fine radios and extend their useful Life. Faulty capacitors are the cause of a significant amount of problems with electronic equipment and I have repaired hundreds of units in which the only fault was one or 2 defective Electrolytic capacitors. Replacing all out of spec capacitors is recommended and often restores the equipment to like new performance. Failure to replace them can result in failure/stress to other components such as transformers, transistors and diodes, many of which are hard to replace due to lack of suitable components. Recapping is a good investment and an immensely satisfying project. Work slow, have fun and prepare to be impressed with your work. I have been repairing and racapping this equipment for about 20 years and often had difficulty finding the necessary values of capacitors. There is no available copy of a DX-150 Service manual that I can locate, so the following list of capacitors is taken from my own DX150 radio and Compared to the schematic, some of the voltages in the actual radio are higher than the schematic values. The values listed below are what is in the radio:(2) 1uF 10v , (1) 1uF 10v - Axial, (1) 5uF 6v - Axial, (1) 10uF 6v, (3) 30uF 6v, (2) 30uF 15v, (1) 30uF 6v - Axial, (3) 50uF 15v, (3) 200 uF 15v, (2)500 uF 10v, (2)500 uF 15v, (1)2000uF 25V - Chassis Mount - These values are older (pre-1970's) values and are replaced with the modern equivalent values.(refer to the supplied inventory sheet) The Auction includes a Laser printed photograph with annotated capacitor guide (produced by me, KK4HXJ) showing location, polarity and values of all capacitors (see product photo 2) and a full 11x17 printout of a very legible copy of the schematic diagram for this radio.
