Description: Travel back in time with this vintage violin. It was handmade in Ohio by an obscure, but talented, luthier named Ray James Cooper (1890-1981). He had skills. With a 14-1/4" body and 23-1/8" overall length, it's a 4/4 full-size violin. It has an unusual milky finish. The top is bound with an unusual cream white binding. Bejeweled tailpiece. Pegs and peg holes are in good round. Cosmetically, it looks pretty good. The fingerboard has some wear. The fingerboard looks like ebony to me, but I'm not certain. Functionally, it works. The bow is unmarked and is only partially haired. It comes in a hard case. The case handle, latches, and hinges all work. Who's up for taking a chance on this rare American fiddle? Questions? It will be well packed with plenty of new 1/2" bubble wrap and shipped in a new 32"x19"x7" stout cardboard instrument box. Please check out our eBay store, Time Travel Music, for more cool vintage stuff, including a bunch of vintage guitars (and a few ukuleles, banjos, fiddles, mandolins and amps, as well as fiddles, brass, woodwind, and various oddball musical instruments and old instrument brochures & catalogs). And please check out our YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/toadstoolshadow, to hear some of our original music.
