Description: YOU ARE PURCHASING: A VERY RARE ORIGINAL WW2 US ARMY UNIFORM TWILL COMBAT TROUSERS.THAT WAS OWNED BY A MAJOR GENERAL WHO WAS A DECORATED VETERAN WHO SERVED IN BOTH WW2 AND THE KOREAN WAR.. THESE TROUSERS ARE IN ARE IN GREAT CONDITION. IT IS A SIZE 38 X 33. IT IS THE ARMY'S "SPECIAL" STYLE WITH A TRIANGULAR GAS FLAP BEHIND THE FLY. IT IS CONSTRUCTED OF THE LATER WAR DARKER GREEN COLOR OLIVE DRAB SHADE NO. 7. THIS IS A VERY UNUSUAL PIECE OF US ARMY WWII CLOTHING . THESE TROUSERS ARE ESSENTIALLY A PAIR OF SECOND PATTERN HBT HERRINGBONE TROUSERS, WITH LARGE CARGO POCKETS ON THE HIPS BUT THESE TROUSERS ARE NOT MADE OF HERRINGBONE TWILL. RATHER THEY ARE CONSTRUCTED OF "UNIFORM TWILL". UNIFORM TWILL IS THE SAME FABRIC THAT THE ARMY'S WW2 KHAKI "CHINO" TROUSERS WERE MADE OUT OF BUT IN THE OD-7 COLOR RATHER THAN KHAKI. IT IS A FABRIC THAT IS SLIGHTLY RIBBED AND NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE SMOOTHER COTTON SATEEN MATERIAL THAT THE ARMY'S M1943 UNIFORM WAS MADE OF. IT HAS A 6 BUTTON FLY CLOSURE. ALL THE BUTTONS ARE OF THE US ARMY WW2 13 STAR STYLE. THERE IS ALSO AN ADDITIONAL 13 STAR BUTTON LOCATED IN THE WAISTBAND THAT IS USED TO SECURE THE ANTIGAS FLAP. SHUT. THE TROUSERS FEATURE 2 LARGE CARGO POCKETS ON THE SIDES THAT ARE SECURED BY A SINGLE 13 STAR BUTTON CLOSURE. INSIDE THE RIGHT FRONT CARGO POCKET IS LOCATED THE QUARTERMASTER LINEN SPECIFICATION LABEL . UNFORTUNATELY AFTER NUMEROUS LAUNDERINGS IT HAS BECOME "WASHED OUT" AND TOTALLY ILLEGIBLE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO COME UP WITH SOME MORE INFORMATION ON THIS STYLE OF TROUSERS I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE ANOTHER PAIR OF THE SAME STYLE THAT FORTUNATELY STILL HAS AN INTACT LEGIBLE QUARTERMASTER SPECIFICATION TAG. I HAVE ENCLOSED A COPY OF THE TAG (SEE LAST PHOTO). IT READS AS FOLLOWS: TROUSERS, UNIFORM TWILL. OD-7. SPECIAL STOCK NO. 55-T-62332-33. CONTRACT NO. W-36-030-qm-1090 DATED NOV.3, 1945. P.Q.D. NO. 42 C DATED MARCH 10. 1943 PHILA. QUARTERMASTERS DEPOT. THE GENERAL'S LAUNDRY NUMBER---D. 1435 IS STAMPED INTO THE WAISTBAND. I PURCHASED THESE TROUSERS AT GENERAL KELLOGG'S ESTATE SALE AND THEY CAME TOGETHER WITH A MINT HBT HERRINGBONE TWILL CAP THAT IS BEING SOLD ON ONE OF MY OTHER CURRENT LISTINGS. NOTE: A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT MAJOR GENERAL HENRY K. KELLOGG'S SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY HE WAS COMMISSIONED A 2ND LIEUTENANT IN THE ENGINEER RESERVES ON MAY 2, 1931 AND WAS PROMOTED TO 1ST LIEUTENANT IN 1934 AND TO CAPTAIN IN 1938. DURING WW2 HE BECAME A A LIEUTENANT COLONEL AND COMMANDED THE 2ND BATTALION OF THE 19TH COMBAT ENGINEERS DURING THE BATTLE OF KASSERINE IN AFRICA (TUNISIA). HIS EXPLOITS AGAINST THE GERMANS IN TUNISIA IN MARCH OF 1943 ARE WELL CHRONICLED IN THE SEPTEMBER, 1943 EDITION OF "THE MILITARY ENGINEER" (SEE LAST 2 PHOTOS). HE LATER SERVED IN THE KOREAN WAR AND EVENTUALLY ROSE TO THE RANK OF MAJOR GENERAL. WHILE IN KOREA HE BEFRIENDED 5 STAR GENERAL DOUGLAS MACARTHUR. AS A TOKEN OF HIS FRIENDSHIP GENERAL MACARTHUR ENDED UP GIVING GENERAL KELLOGG HIS 5 STAR (GENERAL OF THE ARMY)LICENSE PLATE THAT ONCE HAD BEEN SECURED TO THE FRONT OF MACARTHUR'S COMMAND CAR. ADDITIONAL PROVENANCE REGARDING GENERAL KELLOGG;S SERVICE IN THE ARMY WILL GLADLY BE PROVIDED UPON REQUEST IF THE BUYER SHOULD SO DESIRE. THIS IS A VERY, VERY HARD TO FIND PIECE OF WW2 US ARMY MEMORABILIA . THERE WAS APPARENTLY A VERY SMALL, LIMITED AMOUNT OF THESE UNIFORM TWILL COMBAT TROUSERS PRODUCED. AS COMPARED TO HBT HERRINGBONE TROUSERS. IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO STAINS, TEARS OR REPAIRS. IT HAS ALL ITS ORIGINAL BUTTONS, FLAPS AND POCKETS, . IT HAS SEEN RELATIVELY LITTLE WEAR AND IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND. WHEN YOU THEN TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT THESE TROUSERS WERE OWNED BY A MAJOR GENERAL WHO SERVED IN BOTH WW2 AND KOREA MAKES THEM A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY WW2/KOREAN WAR MILITARIA COLLECTION. THE FACT THAT THEY ARE A VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND LARGE SIZE THAT HAPPENS TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION JUST MAKES THIS RARE ITEM EVEN MORE DESIROUS.WEIGHT: 2 LBS., 2 OZ.ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE E-MAIL ME BEFORE YOU BID.U.S. CUSTOMERS WE WILL BE USE USPS PRIORITY MAIL/ACTUAL SHIPPING COST.THANKS FOR READING.INTERNATIONAL BUYERS – PLEASE NOTE:IMPORT DUTIES, TAXES, AND CHARGES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE ITEM PRICE SHIPPING COST.
