Her oils are strong, vigorous, impressionistic with exciting use of color.A member of a kamaaina family, Pauhi Clark was born and raised in Honolulu but spent much of her childhood on the Big Island. She is proud of her Hawaiian heritage. Major James Hay Wofehouse, British Minister during the monarchy period was her great grandfather as was Archibald Scott Cleghorn, governor of Oahu, and father of her great aunt, Princess Kaiulani. Her first brush with art was at Punahou followed by a year of highly accelerated art courses at Fresno State College. After her marriage to a naval officer, she lived the life of a service wife in many areas of the world. Wherever they were stationed, Pau studied with successful art teachers. During a tour of duty in Greece, she was represented in a major show entitled "American Women in Greece". Since her return to the islands in 1964, she has continued to study and paint.Pauahi Clark is a member of Association of Honolulu Artists, the Honolulu Academy of ARts, and the Roving Rembrandts. She has been represented in juried exhibitions as well as one man shows. In 1977, she received a State Foundation for the Culture and the Arts Purchase Award for her painting "Kaneohe Bay." Her paintings hang in many Hawaii business offices and in private homes here and abroad.
