A rare stunning piece! This exquisite Nekrassoff piece has been designed with enamel on copper. Serge Nekrassoff ( 1895-1985 ) was born in Russia. In 1919 Paris France, he began learning the art of metal-smithing in copper. Until 1925 he continued to make and sell his copper pieces. By 1925 he gained his passport and visa and in New York he opened his first studio and shop. At this time he worked exclusively in pewter. During the 1940s his skills turned to enamel on copper. Enameling is mainly in aquas with black and white at the bottom portion. Scrolled handle and spoon are pewter. This was designed to be a salt dip cellar but can be whatever one chooses. The enamel, copper and wood handle are in very good vintage condition. The inside bottom is a bit rough. Vivid colours. High quality piece.
