Description: Rare and interesting English-language first edition of "The Oil Vendor and the Sing-Song Girl: A Chinese Tale in Five Cantos." Written (in German) by Vincenz Hundhausen and translated to English by Fritz Ruesch. Based on a collection of novels published in the 16th century in Chinese with the title: Chin Ku Chi Kuan. This seems to be the only edition of this book (at least in English). Composed of five cantos in three small volumes, each in red silk covers and sewn binding. The volumes are contained within a cloth folio with bone clasps.
