Rare Robert E. Wood Aluminum Engraving Plate Hand Engraved Signed One Of A Kind

Description: Very Rare, One-Of-A-Kind Robert E. Wood Framed Aluminum Engraving Plate Hand Engraved Image and Signature (see photos above). Our first thought was that this was the Coronado Ferry Landing with the ferryboat "San Diego", but the landscape is not quite right. California, maybe? Could also be the Puget Sound or Lake Washington somewhere. The piece itself is an aluminum plate mounted to black plastic and set in relief against a red felt background. The frame was our only clue that this is from the 1960's or, most likely, around 1970. We contacted the California Watercolor gallery, which agrees the signature is that of Robert Wood. They also had never seen anything like it. Dimensions: Frame = 11.5 x 9.5 inches Engraving = 6.75 x 4.825 inches Condition: The plate does have some small spots of debris embedded in the grooves (see photos). There are scuffs and scratches in the black plastic backing board. The felt backing also has some areas of unevenness, especially to the left and in the upper left corner (see photos). The frame is clean and sturdy. There are scuffs and scratches in the metal accent rails (see photos). The paper seal at the back is fully removed.
