Description: Rare Antique Pewter Britex England Odds & Ends Kangaroo Lid Box C43 on four ball feet. 90w x 55d x 68h I could find next to no information about Britex, but the foliate decoration is influenced by art nouveau, suggesting a pre WW1 date. Presumably, this was intended for dressing-table use, maybe for studs or links, and possibly for the export market in Australia. Condition: The hinge is sound, and the raised foliage is shiny from handling, plus the top has its lid centre pleasantly worn.
