Description: This is the Louisiana National guard challenge coin. On the front it has on it the Louisiana State Seal, "Louisiana National Guard", "Providing Quality and Service", "State Of Louisiana", and "Union Justice Confidence". The Louisiana State was adopted in 1902 and features a pelican tearing flesh from its own breast to feed its young. On the back of the coin it has "People Pride Readiness, Facilities and Service". Then in the middle of the coin on the back it says, "Louisiana Guard Communities of Excellence Spread the Spirit." This Challenge Coin was given to me by my late father, LTG Edward D. Baca, Chief of the National Guard, 1994-1998. Thank you for looking!
