Description: 2+ years old L Koehresii v San Francisco cacti seedlings. Grown from seed in the USA. Go Texas! The plants in the photos are examples of the plants that are available. They ship bare root, and dry with barely any soil left on the cacti. Please be prepared with a well draining soil mix such as a mix of miracle gro cactus and succulent soil mix with extra perlite, pumice, Hyuga Japanese pumice, or Akadama. It can also help to use about a half inch layer of inorganic material such as pumice, lava rock, or Akadama on both the bottom below the soil and as a layer on top of the soil. This can help with drainage, and aeration of the soil. Please do not water them in within one week of planting. They can be dry for a long time with no problems. The most common cause of cacti and succulent death is over watering. Treatment with diluted liquid copper fungicide can help prevent any fungal issues that may occur. They only need to be thoroughly watered every two weeks or so once the soil has been completely dry for at least several days. These cacti will continue to grow well under grow lights, or outside in partial sunlight. Please do not leave them in full, direct sunlight for too long, as that can burn them. If placed in a greenhouse they will need additional shade cloth to prevent burning. They are not cold hardy plants, though can be kept in sub-freezing temperatures in greenhouses in Texas for short durations of inclement weather unheated. This species is toxic, but only if ingested. Please don't ingest these. It would only make you feel very nauseous. I wouldn't necessarily consider these plants to be child safe for all ages. Although, if your child/children are old enough to understand that these cacti are not to be eaten, then having one or more of these in your home is at your discretion. These are a legal, non-psychoactive, look a like of the more well known other species in the same genus that possesses a large amount of an entheogenic compound. These are definitely not those. These can cause sickness, and are being sold under the advisory that they are ornamental plants and are not for consumption. They can be toxic to animals and pets too. Rodents have a tendency to eat these types. Sometimes birds will eat them, though that is rare. Caterpillars, and other pests can eat these cacti as well. If you have any care questions please feel free to message me, and I will be happy to help answer them to the best of my knowledge.
