She has been called the “first lady of sporting art” and her work can be found in prestigious national publications, private collections and various art galleries. Merry "Kelley" Stevens gained international recognition, painting gorgeous portraits of some of the finest horses in the world. Admired as one of the most noted equine artists in the United States, Kelly's artwork beautifully captures the horse in its multi-faceted moods of strength, gentleness, intelligence, and athletic prowess. Always in demand, she was commissioned by the Santa Anita Race Track, the Bay Meadows Race Track, The Northern California Thoroughbred Association, and numerous private collectors. Sadly, Kelly Stevens passed away in 1996 and, until now, her work has been difficult to find and rarely offered for sale. Kelly is the only artist to depict all the winners of the inaugural running of The Breeder's Cup Day races. This is a very collectible signed and numbered, limited edition of the 1984 Hollywood Park Breeder's Cup, that was published over thirty years ago and limited to a very low edition of only 450.
