Description: Very rare, original "boudoir" size cabinet photo of two unidentified Indian scouts, photographed in the Southwest sometime in the 1880s. The mount is stamped, "G.B. WITTICK" - this was the important photographer George Ben Wittick (also went by Ben Wittick), who was based in Fort Wingate, New Mexico, but photographed all around Arizona Territory and the southwest, his subjects including many Native American Indian people. Wittick died of a rattlesnake bite at Fort Wingate in 1903. The most notable portraits taken by Wittick were of the Apache leader Geronimo, as well as and the famous and only surviving tintype of the outlaw Billy the Kid.These two Indian scouts are not identified. They are both double armed and completely decked out! The scout on the left is wearing an Indian necklace. Dimensions of the mount are 8.5" x 5.25". The condition is overall very good antique, with a few mount issues, with the corners, and the mount has a slight curve to it. The image itself is very good, with a small crease in the lower-left.
