Description: Marked "1 Gasschutzhaube", this gas mask case was meant for people that had head injuries or otherwise could not use a standard gas mask. German medics carried these medical head wound gas masks, and were expected to use the filter from the wounded man's gas mask. They were issued to all branches of the German military during World War Two, although the most common ones encountered today tend to be either Army or Naval issue. The inside still has the spring loaded arm that held the hood in place. These were frequently removed after the war to better use as a tool box. This is a nice sized box, measuring 12 by 10 inches, to use for your display as extra storage. Good original paint and writing on the top that I am unable to read.
