Description: RARE EARLY 1920s WESTERN ELECTRIC HANGING ELECTRIC MICROPHONE FOR ELECTRIC STUDIO RECORDINGS OF MUSIC & VOICE This is a very rare and significant WESTERN ELECTRIC electric microphone from about 1920 -1922 used in early electrical recordings of bands with many instruments or groups of people's voice. The horn allowed for amplification of multiple sound points to be collected and input into the microphone head. In its day, this was cutting edge technology. Measures 16" in length and 15" in DIAMETER. Wear is consistent with age and use. In generally very good condition with excellent paint but with many scuffs and a few tiny dings.
