Description: Dug New York Militia Civil War vest button. It is listed in Albert's as NY 25 and in Tice as NY215. The front has a nice dark brown patina with gold highlights. I did not clean it with lemon juice to see if it has more then it is showing. I will leave that to you. I just acquired it from the Richard Hammond collection. According to Tice only one example was found at a Civil War site in Virginia. I do not know if he was talking about this one dug by Richard. The reverse has an RMDC HORSTMANN & ALLIEN backmark. The shank is present, just squished. This button measures 17 mm in diameter. Just a cool dug button. The pictures show its exact condition. Please look at my other listings.
