Rare Confederate Capital w/ re. McClellan as President 1864 Richmond Newspaper

Description: Rare Confederate Capital w/ re. McClellan as President 1864 Richmond Newspaper Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, Oct. 7, 1864  * From the capital of the Confederacy * re. George B. McClellan as president ? The front page has: "The War News" which is a reflection upon the latest reports as received & includes as subheads "The Repulse of the Enemy on the Darbytown Road Last Saturday" and "Later From Sheridan". Also on the ftpg. are: "The Virginia Cadets" which notes calling upon all the cadets of the Virginia Military Institute over age 17; and "An Important Order --Revocation of Details" "City Intelligence" "From Charleston" and other items. The back page has the always interesting editorial which includes: "One month of spirit & energy now, & the campaign is over, and the war is over...Let who will be Yankee President, with the failure of Grant and Sherman this year, the war ends. And with Sherman's army already isolated & cut off in Georgia, and Grant unable either to take or besiege Richmond, we have only to make one month's exertion in improving our advantages, & then it may safely be said that the fourth year's campaign, & with it the war itself, is one gigantick failure..." with much more, taking over a full column. Also: "Additional From The North--The War In Missouri----Price Threatening St. Louis--Great Excitement--Capture of Mineral Point--Rapid Advance of Price's Forces" "Affairs In Missouri" "A New Torture for Rebels" and so much more. Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a one column masthead, typical from the South late in the war as most paper mills were in the North. A printing crease causes no loss of type, very nice condition. Please Note: All of our offerings are 100% authentic! We do not offer reprints or reproductions of any kind. They are guaranteed to be original! Links to Archival Storage Options & Certificates of Authenticity Are Below! Historical reports may be beautiful or ugly, but they are always informative. While we rejoice in the beautiful (heroic, discovery, amazing feats, etc.), we at Historys Newsstand also offer "the ugly" for we are determined to learn from the wrongs of the past - understanding, to do so, we must be willing to look these wrongs directly in the face and shout "NO MORE!". It is for this reason many Black Americans collect historic slave ads, Jews collect reports regarding the Holocaust, women collect coverage of the Womens Suffrage Movement, etc.. If you find any to be offensive, we agree! Hopefully this is an indication we are moving in the right direction. Domestic Shipping Policy... For this specific item, A U.S. winner pays $10.00 S&H.
