Description: RARE Ca. Artist Rochelle "Rocky" Rau Painting Purse Seiner SEA QUEEN Monterey Her work is rare and doesn't come up to often, this is a mid century piece of the F/V Sea Queen that is listed in the Monterey Historical Society and the Italian Heritage Society of the Monterey Peninsula. The original frame is in good condition and measures approximately 13” x 19 1/2” the painting is an excellent condition for its age. Rochelle Rocky Rau is a native Californian, but spent the earliest part of her life in Arizona where she started painting at the age of 10. Continuing her artwork through school, Rocky was then sidetracked into the theater, movies, and television. Returning, after 15 years, to her painting, and working with her husband, Ed Rau, who exclusively had individually frames each of her paintings, she has been most successful being aptly represented in galleries and personal collections throughout the United States, London, Australia, etc. Since Rocky is an energetic and prolific artist, ingenuous in her use of materials and techniques with both brush and pallet knife, her lack of formal art training has never posed as a barrier in her career. Instead, she transfer her feelings of humor, satire, and a joy for living, to her colorful canvases. As for ideas, I will never run out, people in life are everywhere with a never-ending pleasure of faces. Painting is to Rocky, a means of expression or sincere regard for the desires, and the feelings of others. Courtesy of the Italian Heritage Society of the Monterey Peninsula.
