Description: This rare c1913 real photo postcard features the Hill Packing Company plant, which packed pork and beef and was entirely owned by Nevada men. Approximate size: 5.4 inches x 3.4 inches This packing plant has a sad ending when it experienced a boiler explosion, which started a fire, which completely destroyed the building. The loss totaled in $35,000 at the time, partly covered by insurance. The reference photo is of a newspaper article printed in the Ripley County Democrat (Doniphan, Mo.) on January 10, 1913. This postcard is perfect for those who collect items having to do with packing plants in the early 1900s, as well as those who collect memorabilia of buildings in early Missouri history. Please inspect the pictures, as they give the best representation of condition. May have discoloring, edge or corner wear, marks, creases, fading, smudges, corner or edge bends, tears, or corners missing. In particular, there is a reddish coloration on the front-lower-right side. (E66 inventory number)
