Description: This RARE! small cedar chest belonged to my Grandparents, being a "Dept 51 (360/125)" edition from the Tennessee Red Cedar and Novelty Company, Chattanooga, TN (1921-1952), a cedar chest manufacturer.The Tiger Emblem is shown in their 1923 ads. This manufacturing company was located on East 14th Street at the Belt Railway. It's Founder was Thomas C.They marketed their furniture as: "Moth Proof if You Get the Genuine. We only use TENNESSEE Mountain Grown Fragrant Cedar".They also wrote in their advertising: "Cedar chests were once popular graduation or wedding gifts, handed down through generations." "The oils in the cedar wood were said to repel moths." The outside of the chest measures 12" across the lid by 6" wide at the lid by 6" tall from the feet to the top.The inside of the chest measures 10 1/4" long by 4 3/4" wide.Total weight without packaging is 2 pounds, 4.2 ounces.I've included "FREE SHIPPING!"
