Description: This is a rare antique late 19th Malicorne Faience plate crafted by famed potter Beatrix Pouplard. French Malicorne Faience plate depicting a man in a Breton traditional costume surrounded by colorful flowers. Decorative yellow and blue border. PBx mark at the back of the plate. In 1890, Lon Pouplard acquired the Malicorne earthenware factory from the parents of his wife, Marie-Angle Beatrix. Their joint productions will be signed PBx. Malicorne pottery was produced in the village of Malicorne-sur-Sarthe, France, a short distance from Quimper. Approximate size: Diameter 7 1/2" Approximate weight: 8.4 oz.
