Description: Up for sale is the famous and extremely scarce original Colt advertising lithograph depicting Tex and Patches. Produced in the mid to late 1920's, from an oil painting "Tex and His Horse, Patches" by Frank Schoonover, which depicts a western lawman on his horse, Colt SAA with ornate handle visible on his hip, amid desert scenery. "Frank E. Schoonover" signature and the date "'25" visible in lower right corner, with "Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co./Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A." markings in the lower middle. The full sheet measures 32.75 x 19.75 inches while the matting measures 38.25 x 24.75 inches. The production medium is interesting as it is lithograph over a type of canvas paper. The condition of this lithograph is mounted to foam board showing vertical creases and loss to sheets edge. The work has been removed from its previous frame for safe shipping.
