Description: Unique and soft Pure Silk Scarf by ASI, dated 1954: Vintage Disneyland Park Souvenir Scarf. Here is a very hard to find pure silk, hand-rolled Disneyland Souvenir Scarf by ASI (American Souvenirs, Inc.), dated 1954! Measureing approximately 32" x 34", this large scarf can be worn in many ways, or is perfect for a display. The scarf is brightly colored, with sharp and crisp graphics. The edges are intact and without fabric issues; the label is intact, no discoloration, no stains, no fabric issues, no holes, and no tears. As always, please review the photos.Fun note: This vintage park souvenir scarf was made before the park opened under a short-lived contract with American Souvenirs Inc. "ASI". Silk information: Any distinctive rough (aka “slubby”) texture in many silk fabrics are from using silk fibers that contain natural bumps and lumps from the source cocoon. Silk fabrics are susceptible to stretching or pulling the fabrics apart and are more common than not. This condition is not visible, but may exist, in this example. I always want your experience shopping with me to be a good one, so please reach out to me with questions or concerns. Thanks! Margie from Raggedydoll's Neighborhood Here is additional information I copied:"American Souvenirs Inc. also known as “ASI”, supplied many of Disneyland's first in park souvenirs. It's an important, historic detail that has been a great help for many avid Disneyana Collectors. The ASI story started with Cornelius Vanderbilt "C. V." Wood, or "Woody", before the Original Disneyland Park even opened. Woody was hired by Walt and Roy Disney aka the Disney brothers in 1954. C. V. became Disneyland's vice president, general manager of the Disneyland project and Disneyland's first employee. He worked closely with the Disney Brothers particularly Roy Disney and hired some of Disneyland's other early employees: set designers, artists, special effects technicians, talent and suppliers. Among them he hired "Brett Smithers and Bill Vanburgh in the form of a contract to provide Disneyland with souvenirs. Though Smithers and Vanburgh had absolutely no experience with either amusement parks or souvenirs, they hastily incorporated a new business, named American Souvenirs, Inc., and a few days later possessed a contract, signed by C. V. Wood, to be the exclusive provider of trinket souvenirs to both Disneyland itself and the various leased stores inside the park.... Woody justified his decision by claiming one distributor was necessary for the "strictest control of the source, appearance, quality and design" of souvenirs...".
