Description: Rare Aluminum FIRE FLY DELUXE Lighter Model 550 Buchmann Strauss Buffalo NY Vtg Offered is a rare FIRE FLY DELUXE 550 model aluminum body lighter, complete with original box, papers and protective flannel bag, as pictured. Classic, very limited production high quality aluminum lighter made by Buchmann and Strauss 1717 Fillmore Ave Buffalo 11, New York, (note the pre Zip Code address). This 550 model deluxe model has splayed sides reminiscent of the Art Deco era and is not to be confused with the straight sided, bland appearance commonly found "FLICK" lighter model. Lighter measures about 1/2" thick x 1" wide x 2-1/2" tall and comes with original box, operating/care instructions and original soft flannel anti tarnish protective pouch, Pouch is marked "PACIFIC SILVER CLOTH_PREVENTS TARNISH" (see photos). Bottom slide closure is marked "BUCHMANN & STRAUSS CORP. BUFFALO, NY" and "FIRE_FLY DELUXE" and "PATENT PENDING". Sold in apparent proper working order, this well cared for lighter has been carried and is in very nice condition showing little wear; flint throws a solid spark, wick is present appears functional. Body is very clean, no ID markings or defacement and no tarnish or corrosion; box shows light wear to the lettering (see photos).
